How to Fix a "No Signal" Error on Your MonitorUpdated 2 days ago

You've unboxed your new PC, plugged everything in, hit the power button... but your monitor just says "No Signal" or "No Input Detected." This is a common issue, and the solution is usually very simple! This guide will walk you through the most likely causes, from simple cable checks to safely re-seating components.

Part 1: The Essential External Checks

Let's start with the basics. These three steps solve the problem over 90% of the time.

1. Check Your Monitor's Power and Input Source First, make sure your monitor is plugged into the wall and the power light is on. Then, use the physical buttons on the monitor itself to open its menu and cycle through the input sources. Ensure it is set to the correct one for the cable you are using (e.g., HDMI 1, DisplayPort).

2. The Most Common Fix: Plug Into Your Graphics Card Your Computer Cave Gaming PC has a powerful, dedicated graphics card for gaming. Your monitor must be plugged into this card to work correctly.

  • Look at the back of your PC. You will see a group of video ports (HDMI, DisplayPort) positioned horizontally, lower down on the case. This is your graphics card.

  • You will also see a group of ports positioned vertically, higher up near the USB ports. This is your motherboard.

  • Ensure your monitor's display cable is plugged into the lower, horizontal graphics card ports. The upper motherboard ports are disabled.

3. Check Your Cable Connections Unplug the display cable from both the back of your PC and the back of your monitor, then plug them back in firmly. A loose connection can sometimes be the culprit.

Part 2: Safely Checking Internal Components

If the external checks didn't work, the next step is to make sure the key components inside your PC haven't shifted during shipping.

Safety First! Unplug your PC from the wall and place it on a stable surface. Remove the main side panel (usually glass). Our warranty allows you to open your PC to check connections, but please be careful and only proceed if you feel comfortable.

1. How to Re-seat Your Graphics Card (GPU)This is the large, horizontal card that your monitor plugs into.

  1. Unscrew the one or two screws holding the card's metal bracket to the case.

  2. Locate the plastic tab at the far end of the motherboard slot the card is plugged into. Gently press this tab down to unlock the card.

  3. Carefully pull the card straight out of the slot.

  4. Re-insert the card firmly back into the same slot. You should hear a "click" as the locking tab snaps back into place.

  5. Screw the card's bracket back into the case.

2. How to Re-seat Your RAM (Memory)These are the vertical "sticks" of memory, usually located to the right of the large CPU cooler.

  1. Press down on the small plastic tabs at one or both ends of the RAM slot. This will pop the stick up.

  2. Remove the RAM stick.

  3. Align the notch on the bottom of the stick with the notch in the slot, and press it firmly back into place until the side tabs click and lock it in.

  4. If you have more than one stick of RAM, try booting with just one stick at a time to see if a specific stick is causing the issue.
