How to Activate Windows on Your PCUpdated 11 days ago

Your new Computer Cave Gaming PC is designed for a seamless, out-of-the-box experience, which means Windows should already be activated and ready to go! However, if you see an activation notice or have recently reinstalled your operating system, this guide will walk you through the simple steps to resolve it.

"I Just Unboxed My PC and See an Activation Notice"

If you've just booted up your new PC and see a "Windows isn't activated" message, don't worry! This is usually a temporary issue that resolves itself.

Your copy of Windows will automatically activate once it connects to Microsoft's servers. The only thing you need to do is connect your PC to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable. The activation notice should disappear on its own within a few hours.

Finding Your Windows Product Key

Your PC uses a modern "digital license" that is tied directly to your hardware, so you typically won't need to manually enter a product key. However, if you ever need to find it for your own records, it's easy to locate.

Your 25-digit Windows Product Key can be found on a sticker on the back of your PC tower.

Reactivating Windows After a Reinstall

If you've performed a fresh installation of Windows, you can easily reactivate it using the built-in troubleshooter.

  1. Click the Start Menu and select the Settings icon (the small gear).

  2. In the Settings window, click on Update & Security.

  3. From the menu on the left, select Activation.

  4. Click the Troubleshoot button.

The troubleshooter will communicate with Microsoft's servers, detect your PC's digital license, and automatically reactivate your copy of Windows.
